Abstract:In order to explore the antioxidant and whitening activities of licorice, poria cocos, Rhodiola rosea, scutellaria baicalensis and Baizhu extract, and to search for natural active substances with potential to be used in cosmetics, five kinds of Chinese herbs were extracted, purified and concentrated with 70% ethanol as solvent. 1, 1-diphenyl-2-trinitrophenylhydrazine (DPPH) free radical scavenging activity, hydroxyl radical (·OH) activity,2, 2-diazo-bis (3-ethyl-benzothiazole-6-sulfonic acid) diamiammonium salt (ABTS+) free radical scavenging activity and tyrosinase activity inhibition rate were used as evaluation indexes to investigate the antioxidant and whitening activities of 5 extracts of Chinese herbs in vitro. The guinea pig skin aging model was established by UV irradiation. After applying the above 5 kinds of Chinese medicine extract, the skin brightness was investigated, and then the skin was sliced and stained to observe the amount of melanin and the state of skin tissue. The results showed that the semi-inhibitory mass concentration (IC50) of Rhodiola Rosea against ·OH, DPPH and ABTS free radicals were 0.4655, 0.004 mg/mL and 2.077 μg/mL, respectively, which was close to the positive control product VC. The IC50 of tyrosinase was 0.039 μg/mL, which showed the best antioxidant activity and tyrosinase inhibition ability. The results of in vivo experiment showed that the skin brightness (L) after administration of licorice extract was 43.39; The results showed that the extract of Rhodiola rosea, licorice and scutellaria scutellaria had obvious skin repairing effect, and the amount of melanin deposition in the skin of licorice group was the least. Through the comparison of in vivo and in vitro experiments, Rhodiola extract has strong application potential in vitro, and licorice extract has better practical application effect.
